Who is eligible for the services provided?

All individuals or families within the Greater Harrisburg area are eligible for services, regardless of race, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities, age, country of origin or religion.

How are my services paid for?

Fees are on a sliding scale based on income, family size, etc. Some services may be covered by your health insurance or Medicare. Jewish Family Service receives funding from a variety of grants, public resources and the generous support of many private donors in the community. Programs with specific Jewish content are supported in part by allocation grants from the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg. Jewish Family Service of Greater Harrisburg, Inc. is a nonprofit agency serving everyone in the tri-county area.

Who provides your counseling services?

Jewish Family Service is staffed by Licensed Clinical Social Workers under the direction and supervision of our Executive Director/CEO, Helene Cohen, ACSW, LCSW, BCD. Staff constantly hone their skills by attending seminars. A consulting psychiatrist is on staff for seeing clients where indicated, prescribing and monitoring medication.

How are appointments made?

Consultations are by appointment. Evening hours and home visits are available, depending upon need. Appointments can be made by calling our office at 717-233-1681 or stopping by during regular office hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday, until 4:00 p.m.

    How do I get to Jewish Family Service?

    The Jewish Family Service building is located at 3333 North Front Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110, on the northwest corner of the campus of the United Jewish Community. We have dedicated parking in front of our entrance on the opposite side of the parking lot from the Jewish Community Center.
