Mynd Works
Mynd Works is a special clinic created by Jewish
Family Services of Greater Harrisburg in 2005 to evaluate children, adolescents
and young adults with a variety of learning disorders such as dyslexia, attention
deficit/attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, sensory integration disorders,
and auditory and visual processing disorders. The goal of Mynd Works is to
treat learning disabled children so that they are able to function in school
and in society to their fullest potential, confident in their abilities rather
than hampered by their disabilities.
Mynd Works offers comprehensive non-invasive,
non-drug based therapies with an individualized approach. Based on scientific
evidence that the brain is adaptable, treatment goals are to "retrain" children's
brains. "Retraining" helps sharpen abilities to observe social interactions
more acutely and therefore respond more appropriately. In combination, improved
social skills and stronger academic performance enhance self-esteem. The ultimate
goal is to foster emotionally healthy and economically self-sufficient adults.
