JFS Fights COVID-19

Update 4/7/2020: Amid the Coronavirus crisis, JFS offices are closed, but we are still operating normal business remotely. If you are in need of items from the food pantry or experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the office at 717-233-1681 or email us at [email protected] and we will respond within 24 hours.

In the past couple of weeks, Jewish Family Service has taken the initiative to serve the most vulnerable in our community during the growing outbreak of the COVID -19 virus.

JFS has put the following plans and actions in place:
*We have suspended all in-office visits.
*Our front external doors will remain locked at all times. A sign on the door will instruct people to clal the main agency number for any needs.
*We are retaining a small group of employees in the office during normal business hours to get you the help you’re looking for.
*We are gearing up to provide tele-health remotely in 3 of our major programs, Family Based Mental Health, Myndworks Counseling and AdoptionLinks.
*The Finkelstein-Cohen KMOW Program is continuing to pack and deliver meals to isolated older adults living at home.
*The Project Lift Program and Back on Track Fund are continuing to virtually provide assistance with finances and locating resources to people having acute basic needs.
*We have implemented the following procedures for safely accepting food for and distributing food from our Food Pantry. First and foremost, people needing food from the pantry will need to call the office, make a request and schedule a time to come in. Second, based on the request, JFS staff will pack the bags and bring them outside to the client when he/she arrives. And third, if food is being donated, other than our regular protocols, we need to create our own disinfectant wipes to wipe off the items before they are put on the shelf.
Please call the main JFS number at 717-233-1681 for assistance and with any questions.
